3 Days Kibale National park

The 3-day journey to Kibale National Park brings you to one of Africa’s primate hotspots for fantastic experiences with chimpanzees, 12 small primates, and other wildlife attractions. One of the most popular activities in the park is tracking chimpanzees, it will bring you in touch with the most obstinate animals, who have 99 percent of our DNA, and then expose you to other incredible sights like crater lakes and other locations.

Kibale National Park which spans an area of 795 square kilometers, is situated in the southern region of Uganda. Savannah woodlands coexist with tropical rainforests in the forest. There are more than 1,500 chimpanzees living in Kibale National Park, along with 12 other primates, 60 animals, 375 bird species, and 351 tree species. Additionally, it hosts animals from Queen Elizabeth National Park, including lions, leopards, forest pigs, and elephants.

A chimpanzee habituation experience is an option included in the safari package. When chimpanzees are being habituated, researchers track the chimps as they work on the process. The experience entails tracking the chimpanzees throughout the day and is more extensive than typical chimpanzee trekking. There is a higher possibility that you will see uncommon chimpanzee behavior. For chimpanzee habituation, it’s necessary to awake earlier than usual so that you can get to the chimps before they start leaving their nests. After that, you spend the entire day following them along with the researchers and rangers. You may observe the chimpanzees as they start their day, eat, chat, and then build their nighttime nests throughout this period

The 3-day tour in Kibale includes a primate walk in Kanyanchu, birding, a nature walk to the crater lakes, and a visit to the nearby settlement. Since the 3-day chimpanzee habituation takes the entire day, participants will have to skip afternoon activities. The cost of the chimpanzee monitoring permits varies depending on who is purchasing them: foreign tourists must pay $150, foreign residents must pay $100, and East African locals must pay 100,000 Shs. The permit costs 250 dollars for foreign visitors, 150 dollars for foreign residents, and then 70 dollars for countries in East Africa during the chimpanzee habituation.
