You’ll get to enjoy both the typical African safari in the savanna plains and a primate adventure in a pristine mountain forest on your 5-day safari to Rwanda. Rwanda is one of the few countries that can provide such a rare and exciting variety of activities and sights. You’ll be on a safari through Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s unique savanna ecosystem and home to a wide range of species like zebras, antelopes, elephants, lions, hyenas, and hippos. Carry on to the park’s largest lake, Ihema, where you may take a thrilling boat ride.

The journey will take you to Nyungwe Forest National Park after your exciting safari in the savanna, which is known for its high concentration and variety of primates, including the chimpanzee. Nyungwe’s chimpanzee trekking excursion is not to be missed, as it will provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with these fascinating primates, and the canopy walk, which will provide you breathtaking views of the surrounding forest, is not to be missed, too.

First Day:  Transfer to Akagera National Park

After 2.5 hours on the road, you’ll arrive and be taken to your lodge before setting off on a brief game drive to spot wildlife like lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, duikers, kobs, leopards, and many more. You can go on a safari at night if you want to view animals that are active then. Desirable animals like cats start to become active around this time. During the approximately 2 hours of this excursion, you may look forward to seeing bush cubs, leopards, and nightjars. Day 2: Full-day safari adventures and Transfer to Kigali

The complete safari through Akagera National Park takes 5-6 hours, so after breakfast, guests should vacate their rooms and go out by 6:30 a.m. leaving at the park’s southern entrance, and your drive will take you through a wide range of habitat types, from woods and forests to swamps and marshes to the shores of lakes and savannah grasslands. You will reach the Kilala plains, a huge open area teeming with wildlife. Given the density of species and the lack of obstructions, this is the best place in the park to observe them.

After returning to the resort for lunch and relaxation, you can take an afternoon boat trip on Lake Ihema to see the many creatures that come to the water to cool off, such as hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, elephants, and more. In this area, you can also see shorebirds. Get back to your lodge in time for an evening game drive to see any creatures you may have missed during the day.
