Kidepo Valley National Park is one of Uganda’s biggest and most rewarding National Parks. It has the most stunning scenery with many animals including the cheetah, the fastest animal in the world, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, buffaloes Leopards, and many others.

The 4 days trip to Kidepo Valley National park takes you to Uganda’s furthest protected area, tagged “the true African wilderness”. Kidepo has listed the lonely planet and CNN travel as one of the best national parks to visit in Africa. The unspoiled beauty of Kidepo National park makes it a treasure worth exploring. Far from cities and urban life, the park still enjoys the true setting of what a true wilderness in Africa is. With a large number of wildlife including unique ones like ostriches and cheetahs the fastest animal on land can be sighted only in this park.

Expect to visit Karamojong communities and other cultural encounters in the park that live peacefully with wildlife within the boundaries of the park. The Karamojong are born warriors who live in small homesteads called Manyattas with a lifestyle similar to that of the Masai of Kenya and Tanzania.

Depending on your flight out of Uganda you may decide to do another game drive before driving back to Kampala, on the way, you may decide to stop over to view some crater lakes and the rift valley floor and escarpments arriving late afternoon in Kampala en-route lunch.

Day 1: Transfer to Kidepo National Park

You will be picked up by our driver guide departing for Kidepo valley national park for your 4 days safari of game drives and culture. The long drive shall take you far to the northeast of  Karamojong communities and Kidepo national park It’s a long journey but very interesting with many stopovers to relax as you would request and of course for en-route lunch breaks at Gulu as you proceed to your booked lodge that situated within the park in the late evening for dinner and overnight while preparing for early morning game drives on the next day of the safari.

Day 2: Early  Game drives and  Cultural encounters with the Karamojong

Early morning after breakfast, you will have your packed lunch ready and proceed for an early game drive in Narus valley to catch up with great sightings of wildlife such as lions, buffalos, elephants, buffalos, cheetahs if luck strikes you, leopards among other game animals. The park has unique game drives that you may find yourself and guide in a vast and unspoiled national park, kidepo valley is surrounded by hills which makes the scenery beautiful.

After the awesome adventure, you will have your leisure lunch and later set out for a cultural encounter with the special group of Karamojong people who will get to teach you more about their lifestyle and other cultural practices.  Karamojong are famous cattle keepers who love their animals, have beautiful small homesteads called the Manyattas or non-permanent kraals, spending some time with specified family learning their way of life, and dancing skills are interesting to experience After this interesting experience, you will get back to your lodge and retire for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Evening Game Drives with Nature Walks

After breakfast, you will travel to the Sudanese border to see the rare Ostrich population, which is exclusive to Kidepo National Park. Here you will have lunch set in the bush having a view of the park.

You will set out for a guided nature/ bush walk to Kanangorok hot springs with a ranger beside your safari car, a breathtaking landscape where you will get to sight a quite big number of roaming Ostriches around. Then later get back to your lodge for a leisurely lunch and afterward head for an evening game drive that will expose you to some wildlife you might have missed in the morning.

Return for dinner and overnight at  Apoka Lodge, Adere safari lodge(luxury), and Kidepo savannah Lodge(moderate) options

Day 4: Transfer to Kampala and End Safari

You will wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast, check out of the lodge, and begin your journey back to Kampala immediately with a few stopovers including lunch. You will arrive in the evening for a drop-off at your desired points to spend your evening at leisure.
